Small Ruminant Care

Goat & Sheep Veterinary Care

Every farm has its own unique blend of livestock, with goats and sheep often playing a central role in maintaining the property. While these animals are generally low-maintenance, they still carry risks for various conditions that may necessitate veterinary care. Fortunately, the team at Advanced Care Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of your small ruminants.

Located in Sapulpa, Glenpool, Tulsa, and surrounding areas, Advanced Care Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services for goats and sheep. Our knowledgeable and certified veterinarians provide wellness, sick care, and husbandry services tailored specifically for these animals. This includes preventative health measures such as vaccines, nutritional guidance, deworming, hoof care, and parasite control programs designed to safeguard the health of your herd.

While we do not currently offer farm calls for goats or sheep, owners can bring their small ruminants to our office to receive care. Whether it's routine wellness checks or addressing specific health concerns, our team is here to ensure your goats and sheep lead healthy and happy lives on your farm.

Alpacas & Llamas Veterinary Care

In recent years, alpacas and llamas have gained popularity as pets not only in Oklahoma but also across the United States. Llamas, in particular, have evolved to thrive on protein sources ranging from 2-4% in volume, making them well-suited for various terrains within the country. While some regions may not offer adequate support for these camelids, Oklahoma's year-round pasture grazing makes it an ideal environment for them. However, despite their suitability for the region, alpacas and llamas still require regular medical care to ensure their well-being.

AlpacaAs a full-service veterinary clinic, Advanced Care Veterinary Hospital offers comprehensive wellness, sick care, and husbandry services for alpacas and llamas in Green Country and surrounding areas. Our trained staff is equipped to provide the necessary services to enhance your experience with these animals, including vaccinations, nutritional advice, nail care, and parasite control programs to mitigate the spread of unwanted organisms among the herd. While we do not currently offer farm calls for alpacas or llamas, owners can bring these camelids to our office for examination and treatment.

Comprehensive Ruminant Veterinary Medicine

Given that ruminants are herd animals, even minor issues with a single member can swiftly spread to the entire population. As your herd expands, they may encounter various life events or physiological changes where veterinary attention becomes crucial for their well-being. Regular preventive care plays a pivotal role in maintaining optimal health for your small ruminants, allowing them to fulfill their vital roles on your farm.

Timely detection of illness in ruminants is paramount for effective treatment. While these animals often go about their daily routines with minimal interaction from the owner, it's essential to observe them for any signs of trouble that may impact their quality of life. Monitoring changes in behavior and promptly scheduling a check-up with a veterinarian can help pinpoint potential underlying issues.
